Agriculture and Allied Activities
Even in the 21st century, agriculture continues to provide livelihood to over half of the Indian population. It is the prime occupation in the rural areas and provides food and nutrition security to the nation. Second to none in terms of its socio-economic importance, agriculture and allied activities have faced challenges in the form of disguised unemployment, lack of innovation, poor remuneration for small and marginal farmers, poor R&D and lower budget allocation.
Despite the challenges, agriculture and allied activities offer solution to the pressing problems of unemployment, sustainable economic growth and import substitution. Agro-based industries are slated to lead the way in this new transition backed by the Green Revolution 2.0, Rainbow Revolution and Green Revolution for Eastern States.
In this direction, PNE Society believes in empowering the farmers and new-age agripreneurs with relevant resources, knowledge, skill development and policy support. It has been our endeavour to engage people in this sector directly and indirectly and carry out on-ground activities to help in the holistic development of this sector, with a special focus on small and marginal farmers.
